HISTORY OF GENESIS
Genesis formed in 1967. Formed out of school bands "Garden Wall" and "Anon"[3], the original line-up consisted of Peter Gabriel (vocals), Anthony Phillips (guitar), Tony Banks (keyboards), Mike Rutherford (bass & guitar) and Chris Stewart (drums). - reference - www.en.wikipedia.org
They recorded their 1st album in 1969, "From Genesis to Revelation". Their first single "The Silent Sun" was released in febuary 1968. Peter Gabriel offered the Drummer job to Roger Taylor who rejected Genesis to join Queen. Peter Gabriel left the band in 1975 and Phil Collins (the Drummer) took over as lead singer. They then went on to record songs like Invisible Touch, Turn It on Again and Land of Confusion.
The album Duke released in 1982 consisted of songs such as Behind the lines/Dukes Intro, Turn it on again, Duchess and Misunderstanding. All of these songs became live performance favourites.
Genesis then in 1986 released their most succesful album to date "Invisible Touch" which include songs such as Land of Confusion, Invisible Touch, Tonight Tonight Tonight and Domino. It reached #1 in the US and across the world. It helped people realize what type of music Genesis did and how good they were. It helped increase their global fan base.
Phil Collins quit Genesis in April 1996 while tony banks and mike rutherford carried Genesis on. They reformed in May 2007 for the new turn it on again tour.
