Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Every year in January all the Christian groups in Ibstock and Heather spend a week meeting together in the evening for a time of fellowship and prayer. Lent Meetings Once a week during Lent we all meet together for special services. Each service is hosted by a different Church. This year's venue and time details are: Tuesday 6/3/2007 in the Methodist Church at 7.30 pm. Tuesday 20/3/2007 in the Wesleyan Reform Church at 7.30 pm. Tuesday 27/3/ in the Baptist Church at 7.30 pm. March of Witness Every Good Friday we have a very special service which takes place outside each Church. We reflect on the astonishing sacrifice Jesus made in order for us to have eternal life in Heaven if we follow Him. This year we will start outside the Wesleyan Reform Church on Central Avenue at 11 am and finish with tea and buns in the Methodist Church on Melbourne Road. Every year on the first Friday in March we celebrate Women's World Day of Prayer. On this day Christian groups throughout the world meet together for special services. This year there were approximately 6,000 services held in Great Britain. The Christians of Ibstock and Heather met together in the Baptist Church on Chapel Street. The theme was United Under God's Tent and was prepared by the Christian Women of Paraguay. Next year's Women's World Day of Prayer will be on Friday 7 March. The theme is God's Wisdom Provides New Understanding and the service will be prepared by the women of Guyana. Further information will be published here later in the year. |
