FUND RAISING

Click here to find out more about Fairtrade

We fundraise throughout the year to support as many charities as we possibly can.  Please read below about our efforts and learn something about the important work that those charities do.

Fairtrade and Tearfund

Our Fairtrade shop is open after the All Age Worship service in St John the Baptist Church.

A Fairtrade farmer will receive a fair price for his/her goods.  The land they farm has to be well maintained to ensure it is fertile for future generations; and all the food is organic.

The 10% commission we earn from the sale of Fairtrade products is sent to Tearfund to help MAKE POVERTY HISTORY.  We sent off £160.00 during 2006.

Outreach & Community Development Food Box

A food box is sent to the Outreach & Community Development Team at the Marlene Reid Centre at the end of every month.  The Team then distribute the food to those who need help in the North West Leicestershire area.

If you would like to contribute dried or tinned food the black food box is located at the back of St Denys Church at all times.  All donations are very gratefully received.

Christian Aid

During the summer we hold a BBQ in aid of Christian Aid.   Last summer the money we raised was sent to the Diocese of Leicester Christian Aid Water for Life Appeal.  A date for this year's event will be released later in the year.

More than 1.2 BILLION people still lack access to clean drinking water, while 2.9 BILLION lack access to adequate sanitation facilities, resulting in an annual death rate of FIVE MILLION, largely CHILDREN, from water-borne diseases.  World Water Council.

21st Century Child

Every November we collect shoe boxes full of gifts which are taken to children who live in Eastern European orphanages.  In November 2006 we sent off more than seventy boxes.

St Denys Church's Adopted Children

We have 'adopted' two Romanian children and support their education and well being.

If you would like to help please leave your donation in one of the envelopes on St Denys Church's pews.

Rainbows

The collection from our Christingle Service at St Denys is sent to The COPE Children's Trust, who fund the Rainbows Children's Hospice.

The Children's Society

The collection from our Christingle Service at St John the Baptist is sent to the Children's Society, who help make the lives of many children and their families so much better.

The Christingle services are always held on Advent Sunday in both Churches.  These are very special services when the children receive their Christingle Orange.
