Since a young girl growing up on a small-holding with many commercial ponds stocked with carp, I became fascinated with the little creatures that also frequented the ponds from time to time. I later learnt they were called Newts and I thought they were great. My sister did not share my enthusiasm for them as I used to chase her with them! Unfortunately the numbers of Newts are in decline; and in fact many people I have spoken to have never seen or even heard of them. Move to top
