FirstSteps Training

 

At FirstSteps we provide a range of training courses, both in-house and on-site. The initial training after purchase of a new package is split into two visits in order that you gain a comprehensive knowledge of the system.

Additional Training can be carried out on site or at our FirstSteps training suite in Enderby. We have designed a range of courses to be held in our training suite. Alternatively you may wish to have a bespoke training session, where you decide the content of the training.

FirstSteps New Customer Training

If you are a new customer to FirstSteps you will initially be contacted by your Technical Trainer who will send you a Pre-Installation Information Form for completion. This allows us to gather all the necessary details about your Nursery or Children's Centre and configure FirstSteps accurately to your requirements.

 

Training Part 1

After installation of the software, the first training session will cover the basics of FirstSteps. Following this you will be able to enter Child/Carer Details, create Room Registers, enter Staff Details and view various reports relating to Registration and Planning.

 

Training Part 2

This will take place once you have entered all your Child/Carer and Staff Details and built up a good working knowledge of the areas covered in Part 1. These areas can be built upon by using the comprehensive user manual and contacting our Support Team as and when required. Part 2 will cover Invoicing, a more detailed look at Planning, Staff management including holidays, sickness and shifts, and other areas such as Mail Merge and Accident Reports.

It is strongly recommended that the same people who attend Part 1 Training are also present for Part 2. All trainees who complete both parts of the training will receive a FirstSteps Certificate.

FirstSteps Additional Training Courses

 

FirstSteps Basic

Aimed at those who require a basic understanding of the system but may not be regular users, this course shows how to navigate the system, perform basic inputting tasks and extract useful reports and information.

 

Dates available – 15th August, 12th September, 10th October, 14th November

 

FirstSteps Financial

Extremely useful for those involved in the accounting aspects of nursery management, this covers fee calculations, invoicing, cash book functionality, financial reporting, direct debits, Sage integration and other related features.

 

Dates available – 24th August, 21st September, 19th October, 23rd November

 

FirstSteps Advanced

This course is aimed at those who are comfortable with the basics but would like to use FirstSteps to its full potential. Attendees will be shown all advanced features available and how to exploit FirstSteps as a complete management and administration tool.

 

Dates available – 27th July, 31st August, 28th September, 26th October, 30th November

 

FirstSteps Refresher

This session is ideal for users who need to become re-acquainted with FirstSteps after an absence. Since FirstSteps undergoes regular modification, this presents an opportunity to consolidate what knowledge the user has with the latest system features.

 

Dates available – 7th August, 4th September, 2nd October, 6th November.

 

FirstSteps V8-V10

V10, the latest version of FirstSteps is written on a different platform to its predecessor in order to incorporate the latest technology. The transition to the latest package is made simple in this comprehensive training session, which examines the new features available on V10.

 

Dates available – 8th August, 5th September, 3rd October, 7th November
