One-To-One Befriending

The one-to-one befriending involves a befriender meeting with you on a one-to-one basis. This can be in your home, or if this is not suitable in another mutually convenient place. The time that a befriender is with you is your time, to talk about whatever you want to talk about. There is no pressure put on you by the befriender, they are just there to listen.

The befriender will usually visit once a week, but this can be adjusted to suit individual needs to perhaps once a fortnight. These sessions will take place at a time that is convenient to both the client and the befriender.

Confidentiality is of the highest importance to us and anything that is discussed will go no futher. However, if the befriender believes that you are in danger, a danger to yourself or to someone else, then they have a duty of care to report this danger. Their point of call will be Sandra Warrell the Scheme Manager. Sandra will then take the most appropriate action.

In-House Groups

Our in-house groups take place here at the Hawthorn Centre. They are very informal and run on the basis of a support group. Everyone in the groups has mental health problems of some kind and the support is mutual between all our group members.

These groups take place on Monday and Tuesday mornings 10 til 12 in the Oak Room.

Outings are often arranged which everyone is welcome to join in with, however there is never any pressure to do so.

Outreach Groups

Our outreach groups take place in Ashby every Tuesday afternoon 1 til 3 and in Castle Donington every other Thursday afternoon 1 til 3.

These groups are run in conjunction with the Grange Day Centre and again offer a mutually supportive environment to all members.

Again, we arrange regular outings that our members are welcome to join in with if they wish to, but there is no pressure to do so.

Our referalls procedure is explained on our Referrals page.
